Wingspan c.13-16 mm.

A very local and scarce species in Britain, occurring in just a few localities in the Scottish Highlands. It is one of the smaller of the Depressariinae, and has the forewing suffused with pinkish brown scales and a few blackish streaks.

The larva, found in June and July, is known to feed on yarrow (Achillea millefolium) or tansy (Tanacetum vulgare), in a silken spinning or tube.

Adult moths are on the wing from August, and spend the winter in hibernation till the following spring.
