Sundew Plume Buckleria paludum

(Zeller, 1839)

Wingspan c. 12 mm.

A scarce and localised plume moth species, inhabiting damp moorland and peat bogs, it is however fairly distinctive for a small plume, with deeply cleft russet forewings, marked with black and white.

The larvae feed on the leaves of round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia), leaving behind deposits of green frass.

There are two generations, with adults appearing in June and again in August, flying mainly from dusk onwards.
