Hedya ochroleucana

(Frölich, 1828)

Wingspan 16-21 mm.

Rather similar in appearance to some of the other Hedya species, this moth can usually be distinguished by the relatively clean-looking creamy outer part of the forewing.

A fairly common species in southern England and Wales, becoming scarcer further north, and rare in Scotland; scarce in Ireland.

The larva feeds on rose (Rosa), including cultivated varieties, and apple (Malus), spinning the leaves together.

The adults are on the wing in June and July.
